Timm Nowakowski
Owner &
Tattoo Artist
Born and raised in Hamtramck, Michigan, Timm Nowakowski is a celebrated oil painter, tattoo artist, and the owner and head artist at Almont Ink. With over 20 years of tattooing experience and a lifetime spent in the art world, Timm’s work is defined by bold, clean line work, vibrant color, and a deep respect for traditional tattooing.
Drawing from his Polish heritage and the raw cultural energy of Detroit and Hamtramck, Timm creates tattoos that carry real meaning — whether it’s a cultural icon, a portrait, a traditional American piece, or something that’s never been done before. He’s tattooed clients from across Lapeer County, Macomb County, and Metro Detroit, and his reputation has been built one exceptional piece at a time.
A proud father of twin daughters, Whinnie and Faye, Timm brings the same precision and care to every tattoo that he brings to his paintings. When you sit in Timm’s chair, you’re not just getting a tattoo — you’re getting two decades of mastery, on your skin, forever.
Specialties: Traditional tattooing, bold line work, vibrant color, custom design, oil painting-influenced artwork, Polish and Detroit cultural iconography.
DJ Davis
Owner, Digital Manager,
& Tattoo Apprentice
DJ Davis is the co-owner of Almont Ink and the digital mind behind the brand. With 15 years of experience as a graphic artist, web developer, and project manager, DJ brings a designer’s eye and a builder’s discipline to everything the shop does — from the website you’re reading right now to the client experience inside the studio.
A proud Almont resident, DJ’s wife Emily manages the shop floor, his daughter Savannah plays on the Almont Middle School girls’ basketball team, and his son Ayden keeps him honest. Outside the shop, DJ is the kind of guy who launches model rockets on weekends, experiments with glass blowing, and picks up new hobbies the way most people pick up new music — constantly and with full commitment.
As a tattoo apprentice training under Timm, DJ is learning the craft the right way — from the ground up, with no shortcuts. His background in design means his eye for detail was already sharp before he ever picked up a machine. Watch this space.
Training in: Fundamental tattooing technique, line work, design-forward custom pieces.
